Almost there

You know that things come when we are ready for them? And what do we feel then?

As is the case in life, it depends 🙂 But what does it depend on – you will ask, think and wonder yourself.

On our experiences, memories, the path we have taken and how we have arranged it in our heads! So listen to this fairy tale…

Olińcia, a small, petite girl, calm, with great sensitivity, carried in her backpack and heart a lot (a whole lot!) of different experiences and memories to which she was returning at that very moment. She saw images of her wandering and searching for what she had dreamed of so much. What she had desired so much. What, although she very rarely spoke about it out loud, and if she did, it was very, very quietly, what she desired immensely.

But what was it? – Maybe you’ll start to get impatient.

She dreamed of a home. One where there is love, peace, support and sensitivity. One where you can sit in a deep armchair and cover your legs with a blanket. Where a cat, delicate, clever and fluffy, will jump on your lap to share its warmth in exchange for petting. A home where there will be quiet music in the background and a book that it likes on the table.

That’s how she imagined her dream, long-awaited home. It was to this place that Olińcia had been walking for so long. Sometimes scratching herself on a branch on this journey. She still has a scar from it on her right arm! She walked, sometimes tripping over a stone and scraping her knee painfully. Sometimes she even had to fight animals! Dangerous ones, with fangs and of which she was terribly, terribly afraid!

But she also remembered that this path was sometimes very pleasant. There were scents of blooming apple and cherry trees. There were memories of beautiful ferns in a dense green forest. Or animals that made her journey more pleasant with their company – sometimes staying for a longer time, and sometimes only for a very, very short time.

She remembered disappointments, joys, tears and feelings of hope. She had been walking like this for a long time, looking for her happy home, which she knew, felt with her whole being, that she would eventually find.

And now she was standing in front of a signpost saying that he was already there – not far, behind a few more mountains, deserts and dirt roads. He was standing there, calling her, encouraging her to come to him and waiting for her.

What do you think Olińcia felt now, seeing this sign? Reading that she would be there soon, soon and finally? That she would finally reach where she wanted to be so much.

Do you think that she felt joy, excitement and a feeling of hope coming true? Satisfaction that she never gave up and kept going?

Yes! You guessed it!

But something else appeared. Can you guess what it was?

You probably have many ideas! And who thought it was that black, hairy fear? Yes, although some may be surprised, and others will be happy that they guessed – it was there too.

Although it took on different forms. Sometimes it was clear, strong and very, very big, to be tiny and slightly noticeable in a moment.

But yes… it appeared too, making Olińcia now just stand there and look at the sign saying that her search might end soon. However, this sign caused a whole lot of questions to arise that scare me:

– What if this last part of the road is too difficult for me and I can’t reach my little house?
– Will I be able to carry my heavy and large backpack for that long?
– Or maybe this sign is not for me? Maybe it’s just deceiving me?
– Will this place really be what I dreamed of?
– Maybe the house of my dreams doesn’t exist at all and I was guided by a false hope?
– Or maybe before I get there the wind will carry my house away?
– Or maybe someone else has already moved in there because they found this signpost before me?

And so Olińcia stood and looked at this sign, and various feelings, questions and memories came to her alternately.

Sometimes she felt like moving, walking, running, skipping, but then some doubt always came.

That’s why she kept standing, she didn’t have the strength or courage to take even a step, afraid of the things she was thinking up, and which she didn’t even know if they existed outside her small, delicate and sensitive head.

And who knows how much longer she would have looked at this signpost without moving, if suddenly deer, butterflies and bunnies, which had accompanied her on her journey earlier, hadn’t started gathering around her.

– Olińcia – we know you’re scared. We see and hear, and we know where these fears come from. After all, we know you so well! But look, you’re not alone. We’re here to help you! We’ll go, hop and fly there with you! As much as we can! And where we fail to reach, we will ask the eagles for help! They will be looking at you from the sky! They will fly so high, in the beautifully blue sky and will suggest the way. They will tell you when you choose the wrong path, they will advise you, encourage you and tell you what you are doing wrong. They will warn you, Olińciu, of danger, so that you can crouch in the grass for a moment. You will also have a companion in them, but sometimes there will probably be moments when you will have to be very, very brave, Olińciu, and then you will have to go alone. But even then, keep going! You cannot stand like this, although we know you are afraid. You must, Olińciu, check whether what is at the end of this path indicated on this signpost is your home.

– Because do you know when we stop being afraid, Olińciu? Exactly when we come closer to fear. We touch it, give it a hand, start talking to it and look it in the eye. Only in this way will you stop being afraid – by trying.

– And now go, Olińciu. Go and check. And we will be with you – even from a distance, but in our thoughts.
